Established in 2003 by the Association of Nigerians in the Capital District (ANCD), ANCD Foundation is a not-for-profit tax exempt organization under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. The Foundation is dedicated to the implementation of programs including cultural awareness, technology and educational activities for the betterment of our community. The goal of the Foundation is to establish a Nigerian-American Community Center that will afford the Association the opportunity to provide worthy services to the community. Programs that will be offered at the Community Center will include:
Community Outreach
The purpose of our community outreach is to develop community based programs that:
- Enhance cultural awareness of Nigerians through active participation in the community;
- Assist new immigrants to acclimate in the Capital District;
- Promote volunteerism among members;
- Instill positive values, civic responsibility and skills for good citizenship in our adult and youth community members
- Strengthen educational/career aspirations of young people through mentoring
Cultrural Exchange

The strategic purpose is to foster a sense of community among diverse ethnic and racial groups and build lasting relationships through cultural performances and historical presentations for area schools and community based organizations.
ANCD annual events which have always attract respectable attendance. The annual event is held to commemorate our anniversary. At this event, speakers are invited to deliver keynote address on topics of interest to our members and the community at large. This event also features Nigerian cultural shows including fashions and cultural dances. In most cases Nigerian cuisine is showcased as the high light of the occasion. In addition, ANCD holds free Summer picnics that attract strong attendance.
