Building Stronger Communities Through Service, Culture & Compassion

One of ANCD’s core missions is to actively support and engage with the communities we call home. Through community service, cultural initiatives, educational outreach, and advocacy efforts, ANCD continues to promote unity, cultural awareness, and social responsibility throughout New York’s Capital District.

Our members proudly participate in activities that uplift underserved communities, celebrate African heritage, and respond to important social and humanitarian issues affecting people locally and globally.

Below are some of the ways ANCD has made a positive impact within the community.

ANCD on month December, 2021 donated $1,000 to Albany Medical Center

Supporting Frontline Workers During COVID-19

Caring for Those Who Cared for Our Communities

During the COVID-19 pandemic, frontline and healthcare workers made extraordinary sacrifices to protect and care for others during one of the most challenging periods in recent history.

In recognition of their dedication and service, ANCD donated $1,000 to Albany Medical Center in December 2021 to support the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare employees helping to combat the pandemic.

This contribution reflected ANCD’s commitment to standing with the community during times of need and supporting those who risked their lives to serve others.

  • Traditional cultural displays

  • Community engagement
  • Educational and cultural awareness activities

ANCD was honored to stand alongside fellow organizations in promoting cultural pride, unity, and inclusion throughout the region.

Bring Bck Our Girls Campaign

Bring Back Our Girls Awareness Campaign

Standing in Solidarity for Justice & Human Rights

ANCD actively participated in efforts to raise awareness about the 2014 abduction of more than 276 schoolgirls from Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria, by the extremist terrorist group Boko Haram.

The global Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement began as a social media campaign and quickly evolved into an international call for justice, awareness, and action.

In solidarity with communities around the world, ANCD joined local organizations throughout New York’s Capital District to support awareness initiatives that included:

  • Community solidarity marches
  • Public awareness events
  • Advocacy campaigns
  • Educational discussions and speeches

Through participation in these activities, ANCD reaffirmed its commitment to human rights, global awareness, and the protection of vulnerable communities.

Our Commitment to Community Impact

ANCD remains committed to:

  • Supporting local communities in times of need
  • Promoting cultural awareness and inclusion
  • Encouraging volunteerism and civic engagement
  • Building partnerships that strengthen the community
  • Empowering future generations through service and leadership

As we continue to grow, ANCD looks forward to expanding its community outreach efforts and creating even greater opportunities for meaningful impact throughout the Capital District and beyond.
