One of the ANCD’s most important goals is its desire to be fully involved in its host community by engaging in community service including the promoting of cultural and social activities for the advancement of the community at large. The ANCD and its members also participate in larger community activities bothering on social conscience issues including reaching out and supporting the community in times of need. Caring for our frontline workers fighting Covid-19
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on humanity, particular the essential workers including healthcare workers that put their lives on the line to help save others. In appreciation of their dedications, the ANCD on month December, 2021 donated $1,000 to Albany Medical Center, Albany, New York for the purpose of procuring personal protection equipment for its employees helping to fight the disease. .

2019 First African Heritage Parade
On Saturday, August 31, 2019, the ANCD participated in the First African Heritage Parade in the Capital District, organized by the YMCA and the Capital District African Heritage Consortium. The ANCD joined other African Diaspora organizations in a celebration of the people of the African Diaspora and their rich and impactful diverse cultural heritage. Bring Back Our Girls Campaign
On…month xx , 20xx, the ANCD played an active role in bringing awareness to the April 2014 abduction of over 276 girls from their hostel in a secondary school in the town of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria by Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist terrorist organization in Northern Nigeria. The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) which started as a hashtag internet campaign became a world-wide social movement generating international outrage and condemnation of the abduction of the Chibok girls and galvanizing support for calls for their release and justice for their abductors. The ANCD joined other local organizations in the Bring Back Our Girls awareness campaign in the Capital District of New York. The event included several awareness and solidarity marches and speeches.
