Dear ANCD members:
Greetings and Happy beginning summer to all ANCD members, families and friends! In my Mother’s Day Message a month ago, I started by saying that I could not believe just how quickly the spring rolled-in to take us unawares. Well, here we go again, as we find ourselves in the beginning of summer, 2018. Again, in my Mother’s Day Message I also described the beginning of 2018 as a “year that was taken over (or be clouded) by sadness and more sadness among the Nigerian community. In these few months of 2018, our Nigerian community suffered losses in Adewunmi family, the Essien family, The Nwude family, and now the Afam family. It is quite possible there are other losses of which I am not aware. May the souls of all the faithful-departed stay in perfect peace. May the good Lord in His infinite wisdom and power grant all surviving family members the fortitude to bear their losses.”
Praying for Dr. Adigwe
Before I continue here, please join me to pray for the full recovery of Dr. Chris Adiqwe who has just been admitted into the Albany Memorial Hospital for treatment. Please stay in touch with Nkechi Adigwe, his daughter, for further updates. Remember that no matter how rough the roads might be ahead of us in our nation- building journeys and family development struggles, we must continue to truck along and not be discouraged.
2018 Picnic
That brings us back to this weekend celebration of Father’s Day: On behalf of ANCD and all its members, including myself and my family, I send you a message of hope and good will and best wishes to all our fathers. For those of you women, including the First Lady Mrs. Edo Essien, please make sure you celebrate the day with your husbands by taking them to the movies and going to the best restaurants in town. Happy Father’s Day to our men! Please remember the sick and the disabled onee among us and reach out to them accordingly. We are in this life struggles together.
Before I forget, please come to the ANCD Picnic on June 23, 2018, at River Road Park, Niskayuna, New York—from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The PRO, Mr. Dare Adelugba, will include the direction with this message. Many thanks to all those working in the Picnic Committee to make this event possible. Please be there on June 23, 2018, at the River Road Park, Niskayuna, New York. All are requested to sign up to bring something. Thank you all!
