ANCD Announces Its Annual Scholarship Award Opportunities

ANCD recently invited applicants to apply for its annual scholarship award opportunities. This scholarship is open to graduating seniors in the Capital District of NY area. Below is the sample letter sent to schools around the district:

“Enclosed for distribution to your high school graduating students is a copy of ANCD Foundation, Inc. scholarship application form for the school year 2016/2017.

Established in 2003 by members of the Association of Nigerians in the Capital District (ANCD), ANCD Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the implementation of programs, which include cultural awareness, technological and educational activities for the betterment of our community.

In recognition of the importance of Education, the Foundation awards Scholarships to students entering higher institution of learning in memory of Mrs. Gladys Okwesili and Dr. Tony Clement, both of which were distinguished educators and members of ANCD.

The applicants are judged among other things, on academic merit, community service, extracurricular activities, and the content and quality of essays submitted with the applications. Applications will be accepted through June 30, 2016. Winners of the award will be announced August 1, 2016.”

Presentation of the awards will take place at our annual dinner event at the Polish Community Center.
